Believe it or not all of us at some level are very disciplined.
No... it's true!
A lack of discipline only comes when we allow ourselves not to care more than normal and more than necessary.
Everyone has, at some point in their life been able to be very disciplined. Here's a short video I did a while back that got over 30,000 views that explains what I mean:
The simple yet powerful key to being more disciplined is deciding to care a lot about your results. Caring is increasing the priority and concern for something or someone. When you begin to care about something more than normal, and more than necessary It emotionally attaches your Identity to the results Which activates your inner discipline and drive.
This subtle shift in mindset immediately creates what I call winners momentum.
Charles Duhigg in his book the Power of Habit, says:
"To be successful at developing new habits you must set yourself up for small wins that creates momentum that support your new behavior."
If discipline is the new behavior you want you must set yourself up with small, consecutive wins that look and feel like discipline. The definition of Discipline is: The ability to demonstrate your decision on a regular basis regardless of how you may feel at a given time.
This definition has two important parts that I want you to understand:
A. Clear, and simple decision
B. Simple and demonstrative action regardless of ones feelings
When you line up your attitudes and actions to be congruent with a decision you've already made, you are setting yourself up for small wins that create winners momentum.
The more small wins you can stack On top of each other, the more you will begin to care about keeping your winners streak going. The vested interest in your results will increase as you experience more and more small wins along the way.
So, the cure for a lack of discipline is racking up a chain of small wins that you never want to break! And this is achieved by simply caring more than normal and more than you think is necessary!
