As I was working out this morning I noticed that I didn't enjoy the pain. It was not fun at all.
Not even looking on the bright side made the grind less painful. Now, this is coming from a person who loves to workout. Or do I?
I think a more accurate viewpoint is: I love the fruit of working out and being in shape. And while there are certainly fitness activities I enjoy more than others, it's safe to say that I don't enjoy the pain associated with the gain I desire. Can you relate?
But here is the truth that I have come to embrace:
You can't have the fruit without the root.
And which one always comes first? Yup, you guessed it:
We must always first deal with the bitter stuff before the sweet stuff. The stuff you never see because it's hidden underground, in the dark, cold dirt that no one likes to deal with. Yet, without strong roots you'll never get the sweet fruit!
